USA – On June 30th, FAO Global attended a US Department of Commerce event introducing business opportunities in Chile’s $1.4 billion dollar Airport modernization plan for the Aviation/Airport Sectors. The Chilean government is planning to double their terminal capacity in 17 airports over the next 20 years in order to meet growing passenger demand. The event was presented by members of the U.S Department of Commerce along with commercial specialist of the U.S Embassy in Chile (Isabel M. Valenzuela) and representative of Chilean Directorate of Airports (Claudia Carvallo) and Chilean Civil Aviation Authority (Viviana Iturriage).

- The Airline/Airport industry in Chile has taken major hits due to Coronavirus and social unrest, with most airports only operating at 10% of previous capacity. However, the Chilean government expect the industry to quickly bounce back with goals to reach 50% of previous capacity by the end of this year, and total recovery within a couple years.
